Inserting an additional column is something we often need to do and the whole right-click insert thing is quite cumbersome. The trick to doing this without your mouse is to employ a Keyboard Shortcut combo…
Ctrl + Spacebar to select the column of your current Active cell and
Ctrl + “+” to insert a column to the right
… and if you need more than one additional column, just keep hitting the “+” until you have the number required. Magical keyboard shortcut!
Just one point that’s worth mentioning, is that if you have a full-size keyboard, rather use the big plus to the right of your numeric keypad. If you use the “+ =” key just to the left of your backspace, you will need to use ctrl + shift + “+” for it to work. Those of you with dinky sized laptops will need to be aware of this.
