Over the past 20 years we’ve fine-tuned our corporate consulting and training offering to achieve exactly that. In some cases, when our Clients know exactly what they want, we skip the training and go straight into solution mode to help build and implement sustainable Excel solutions for their specific requirements.
One such client was SOS contractors who needed a solution to manipulate exported csv data into a specific format that could be imported into Pastel Accounting. This is what their Financial Manager, Tim Laithwaite, had to say:
“I approached Mark at Summit Solutions on the advice of our IT supplier. Our company has a large fleet of vehicles and many diesel bowsers in the Kwa-Zulu Natal midlands. Up until this point, fuel had been captured in a duplicate book that has to be re-captured onto our accounting system by our bookkeeper. As the number of machines and bowsers has increased over the years, capturing this data became very onerous.
We started implementing a fuel management system in 2019 that would record the issues into each vehicle amongst many other features that are useful to management. However, we needed someone with the expertise to be able to integrate the fuel system with Pastel Accounting. We had approached various people who were unable to assist us before meeting Mark from Summit Solutions.
I found that Mark quickly grasped an understanding of what we were trying to achieve and managed to understand enough of the accounting behind the process to begin to find a solution for us. Apart from the initial meeting and the final implementation of the system, everything was done off-site. Although we were not trying to achieve a completely automated system, we have managed to automate about 90% of the process, which cuts down dramatically on data capturing, but also allows us some flexibility and control over the process that is still in its roll-out phase to all the sites within our company.
I have no reservation in recommending Summit Solutions to anyone who is looking for a cost-effective way to automate and integrate various programs and applications. We will definitely use them in the future to further automate our process, or for other similar projects.”
